SECL Cricket Trial Process
The SECL trial process is designed to assess every player fairly through fitness, fielding and cricket skill evaluations.
Phase 1 - Fitness and Fielding Assessment
Every registered player begins with a fitness and fielding assessment. Players may be assessed on speed, agility, athletic ability, movement, catching, throwing, ground fielding, discipline and attendance.
Phase 2 - Final Net Assessment
Shortlisted players may participate in a final net session under professional supervision.
- 15-ball batting assessment with specific targets
- Bowling assessment for line, length, control and variation
- Running between the wickets where applicable
- Wicketkeeping assessment where applicable
- Technique, match awareness and cricketing attitude
Professional Coaching and Assessment
Each practice net may include dedicated batting and bowling coaches. Players receive professional observation to support a fair selection process.
Player selection will be based entirely on fitness, cricketing skills, performance, discipline, match awareness and the final decision of the SECL Selection Committee.
